Answers to the questions we’re asked most often.

We’re an independent, disability-led, volunteer-run organisation, founded and led by nurses with lived experience of neurodivergence. We provide general information, community and peer support for neurodivergent nurses, midwives and nursing students across Australia, and we advocate for workplaces designed with neurodiversity in mind.

Neurodivergent nurses, midwives and nursing students across Australia, whether you’re diagnosed or self-identified. That includes autistic nurses and those with ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and co-occurring profiles. We also write for employers, educators, policy makers and anyone working alongside neurodivergent nurses.

Our private Facebook group is a space where neurodivergent nurses, midwives and students share experiences and support one another, and you’d be very welcome there. You can also find us on Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Instagram.

We share general information only, so we’re unable to give legal, industrial, medical or clinical advice, and we can’t comment on your specific workplace. Our blog covers workplace rights, reasonable adjustments and advocacy in plain language, and our Support and More page lists organisations who can help with individual advice, including the Fair Work Ombudsman.

We aren’t able to provide crisis support, and our inbox isn’t monitored around the clock, so please don’t wait on a reply from us. Our Support and More page lists services available any time, including Lifeline (13 11 14). In an emergency, call 000.

We’re a small, volunteer-run organisation and email is how we connect; we don’t have a phone line, and we’re unable to offer phone or video calls. Reach us through the contact form or at admin@ndnurses.com.au and we’ll respond personally.

We don’t yet have the capacity to run mentoring or structured programs, though it’s exactly the kind of thing we’d love to develop as we grow. For now, the heart of our work is peer support, community and general information.

Join the community, share our posts, and point colleagues to the website. If you’d like to suggest content, share our resources in your workplace, or talk about collaboration, we’d love to hear from you through the contact page.
